UNICEF ADVOCATES IMPROVEMENT ON QUALITY OF LIFE OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN.

Enugu-mapUNICEF Field Office, Enugu, has called for intensified efforts between the organization and government at all levels in improving quality of life of women and children especially the  vulnerable ones. The Chief of UNICEF Field Office, Enugu, Dr. Ibrahim Conteh  made the call at the end of the organisation’s  2017 mid year review and 2018 work plan meeting in Enugu.

Dr. Conteh challenged the participants whichinclude top government functionaries to come up with implementable plans that would continue to promote child education, protection and development.

He explained that notable achievements had been recorded as seen in the adoption of the Child Rights Acts and other child friendly policies and therefore called for greater commitment to the vision of the organisation.

During the interactive session of the meeting, the Executive Secretary, Enugu State Economic Planning Commission, Mr. Dan Onyishi, while commending Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his laudable programmes, encouraged other states in the country to go beyond birth regisration and implement far reaching policies that would ensure healthy living for children.

Participants were drawn from relevant Government ministries, departments and agencies.
