POLICE BOSS IN ANAMBRA RESUMES DUTY WITH A CALL TO CRIMINALS TO KEEP OFF
The new Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Mr. Garba Umar has vowed to deal ruthlessly with criminal elements in the area. Mr. Umar made the vow during the handing and taking-over ceremony at the Police Headquarters in Awka.
He said his officers and men were battle ready to match words with action until all of them were chased out of the State. While describing the former Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sam Okaula as a gallant officer, in fighting crimes, Mr. Umar pledged to consolidate on the successes recorded in the state by his predecessor.
The new Commissioner of Police who insisted that bail was free, emphasized that he had zero tolerance for corruption and solicited the support and co-operation of traditional rulers, religious leaders and other members of the public to enable the police succeed in their work.
Earlier the former Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr. Sam Okaula urged media professionals in the area to co-operate with his successor to enable him to succeed in his assignment. Mr. Umar was the immediate past Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State before he was redeployed to Anambra State.
