Over two hundred amputees and Polio victims in Enugu State have received artificial limbs and polio calipers from the wife of the Enugu State Governor, Mrs. Monica Ugwuanyi. Speaking at the event in Enugu, Mrs. Ugwuanyi stressed the need for adequate assistance and care for people with health challenges especially for the vulnerable groups in the society.
She noted that the gesture was to relieve the sufferings of the victims through her Foundation “Ugo Touch of Life” and also encourage the beneficiaries not to lose hope in life. The State Commissioner for Health in an address delivered by the Director of Public Health, Dr. Okechukwu Ossai commended the foundation for supporting the government in providing succor to the people and assured it of full cooperation of the ministry.
Some of the beneficiaries who were visibly happy thanked God for a dream come true. The distribution of the prosthetics and polio calipers was in collaboration with the Tolaram Foundation Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
