NEW CHIEF JUSTICE OF NIGERIA PLEDGES TO RESTORE THE CONFIDENCE OF NIGERIANS ON THE JUDICIARY
The Senate has approved the nomination of Justice Walter Onnoghen as the chief Justice of Nigeria. The approval came after Justice Onnoghen responded to a barrage of questions from members of the House during a three-hour screening.
Justice Onnoghen told the house that his ultimate goal was to restore the confidence of Nigerians on the Judiciary by ensuring that people who seek justice in courts were given fair hearing.
On the corruption cases against some senior members of the Judiciary, the Justice who maintained that corruption did not only exist in courts, stated that judicial officers who indulge in any act of misconduct would face the law.
Justice Onnoghen asserted that under his watch, the independence of the Judiciary would be vehemently protected.
