IPOB LEADER, KANU RELEASED FROM DETENTION

nnamdi2The Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu has been released. He was released from Kuje Prison to family members and few associates after he met his bail conditions. Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South District; an Igbo Jewish leader, Immanuu El-shalom; and a businessman, Tochukwu Uchendu were his sureties.

Kanu’s spokes person, Amarachi Chimeremeze who confirmed his release to Radio Nigeria, said the IPOB Leader was in high spirit and still in Abuja.

On Tuesday, Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on health grounds granted Nnamdi Kanu bail on three conditions, one of which was that he must present three sureties, one of whom must be a highly placed person from Igbo extraction such as serving Senator, a Jewish leader, and a highly respected Nigerian who must own property and resident in Abuja. Each of the sureties was to deposit one hundred million naira.

Other bail conditions were seizure of his international passports, not be in any gathering of more than 10 persons and not to grant any press interview. The IPOB leader has been in detention after his arrest on October 14, 2015, by the operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS.

He is facing charges of treasonable felony brought against him by the Federal Government.
