IMG_00001691The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Enugu National Station and the Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police are to strengthen the synergy between them for improved service delivery to the people.

The Zonal Director FRCN Enugu, Mr. Ike Okere made this known when he led management team of the station on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mr. Douglas Agbonleni.

The Zonal Director explained that the two organizations had worked together for many years to promote development.

“Your organization and ours share a similar reason for existence, and that is the goodwill, growth and development of the Nigerian people. Our motto of uplifting the people and uniting the nation cannot be achieved without collaboration and partnership with your organization, which is set up to protect Nigerians.”

Mr. Okere solicited the assistance of the police in securing the station.

“Even though Enugu State is secure, there are lots of security problems we have had now and then, despite the fact that we are right here in the heart of the town. We would really like some security from you.”

Responding, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Douglas Ngbonleni, commended the efforts of the Station in informing and educating the people through effective and balanced reportage.

“I appreciate you, your news or activities are in the public interest and we know what that one means. It is not the money that drives the news but the need to satisfy the yearnings of the members of the public. Because until they hear from you they will not believe that what they are hearing from other sources are correct.”

Mr. Agbonleni said the Enugu Police command would continue to partner Radio Nigeria to educate the people on security matters.

Those that accompanied the Zonal Director, on the visit include the Deputy Director Administration, Mr. Sam Anyanwu,  Manager Coal City FM, Mrs. Joy Obitulata,  an Assistant Director News, Mr. Uche Ndukwe and  his counterpart in the Programmes subdirectorate, Mrs. Chinwe Nwuda.
