Former L.G Councilors donate to pupils in support of Ugwuanyi’s administration.

booksIn support of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s education programmes, former councilors in the state under the auspices of Enugu State Councilors’ Forum have commenced the distribution of books to pupils across the 17 council areas of the state.

The 260 former councilors who converged on Unity Primary school, Ohom Orba, Udenu Council Area of the state, to flag off the exercise, said they decided to contribute what they called ‘our widows might’ in support of the governor’s education initiatives and good governance, adding that he continued to pay salaries and execute several infrastructure development projects even in the face of the biting economic recession plaguing the nation.

While describing the governor as “a true grass-root politician,” the leader of the forum, Mr. Chidiebere Okoh, said Governor Ugwuanyi as a gift from God had come to shelter the poor, stressing that his administrative style had restored the hope of the people of the state in good governance.

“It is a gift to us that we have Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as our governor, he is a man of honour and golden heart; he has come to shelter the poor. In the history of Enugu State politics, this is the first time we are having a grass-rooter as a governor… When there is hope, there is life, and Ugwuanyi is the hope.

“Because we love him, we are giving out these books in support of his education initiatives to all the pupils in Udenu Local Government Area of the state. Today is just the flag off, what is happening here today will also happen in all the 17 council areas of the state,” Mr. Oko said.

While commending the uncommon charity of the former councilors, the Leader of Enugu State House of Assembly, Mr. Ikechukwu Ezeugwu,  said the people would always rejoice when the righteous was on the throne. He revealed that he was attracted into partisan politics because of Governor Ugwuanyi, as he did it with the fear of God, humility and the intention to deliver services to the people.

Describing the disposition of the councilors as rare, he said the gesture would encourage the pupils to work harder in their academics to attain tall intellectual heights.

The Head teacher of Unity Primary School, Ohom Orba, Mrs. Asadu Angella, and all the pupils interviewed expressed their joy over the gesture, stating that it would spur them to academic excellence.
