ALVAN IKOKU FEDERAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION INSISTS THE PROVOST PROCEEDS ON RETIREMENT

…Demands for Appointment of An Acting Provost

alvan-logoThe seven day warning strike embarked upon by members of staff of AlvanIkoku Federal College of Education,Owerri in Imo State have entered it’s second day.

The Chairman of the Implantation Committee of the Industrial Action, Mr. BlaiseOnwuagbaoke said in Owerri that the warning strike followed the refusal of the provost, Dr. Blessing Ijioma to step down at the end of her service year which ended on Wednesday.

It could be recalled that the Provost was reappointed to complete her tenure, an action the unions of the College said contravened the conditions of service of the Federal Colleges of Education.

They demand that she proceeds on retirement and a staff of the college

Radio Nigeria observed that no academic activity was going on in the college while efforts made to reach the provost proved abortive.
