ABOUT TWO HUNDRED INDIGENT PERSONS IN NKANU EAST, ENUGU STATE TO BE EMPOWERED THROUGH THE CONDITIONAL CASH TRANSFER
One hundred and seventy two indigent people from each ward in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State are to benefit from the Conditional Cash Transfer, CCT.
It is a state government programme designed to help the poor. The State Commissioner for Human Capital Development and Poverty Reduction, Deacon Obinna Mbaeke announced this while inaugurating Ndiagu Owo Neighbourhood Watch Group in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.
According to Deacon Mbaeke, every local government in Enugu State was meant to benefit from the Conditional Cash Transfer, starting with the poorest amongst them.
The Commissioner charged the neighborhood watch group to help the present administration achieve it’s security agenda in the state by ensuring adequate security of lives and property of the people.
‘’Our primary duty is to give undiluted security of lives and property to the entire citizens of Enugu and those who come to do business and the investors in Enugu State.’’
The State Secretary, Neighbourhood Watch, Mr Geofrey Mba advised them to work within the law guiding the group.
The Ndiagu Owo Town Union President General, Chief John Ogba-Okeke and the Youth Leader of the town, Mr Elias Ogbachi said they would support the neighbourhood watch group.
‘’I am thanking the Governor of Enugu State for instituting this neighbourhood. I will give them moral support and make sure they follow the law guiding the group.’’
‘’I am going to support in every angle I can.’’
The Chairman of the watch group promised to work together with other members of the group in ensuring security in the area.
‘’With the support of my PG and my people, we will work day and night to maintain security and peace in the area.’’
