A thirty four year old lady has been found dead in what is suspected to be suicide in her apartment located at Number Nine Igweogbofia Street, Kpirikpiri Abakaliki in Ebonyi State. The body of the lady was discovered by neighbours following stench oozing out from her room.
When Radio Nigeria arrived the scene, the residents of the area were in a state of confusion as none of them could identify the name and the home town of the lady whose remains were already decomposing.
A tenant in the area, Mr James Oke described her as somebody who lived in solitary pointing out that after he was alerted about the stench, he reported the matter to the Police who came and confirmed her death.
Another resident of the area, Mr Gabriel Okonkwo explained that people living in the area deserted their apartments as a result of the development.
Investigations by Radio Nigeria however show that the deceased is known as Josephine Mba and had worked as a teacher in one of the private schools in the state. A staff of the school confirmed that she voluntarily resigned her appointment about three years ago.
The State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Ogodoali Nome and the Chairman of the State Emergency Management Agency, Evangelist Ephraim Ononye who were at the scene of the incident stated that efforts were being made to trace the family of the deceased.
Radio Nigeria observed that policemen from Kpirikpiri Police Station later arrived at the scene and evacuated the corpse to mortuary with the assistance of some staff of Ministry of Environment.
