Radio Nigeria Applauded For Live Commentary Of Rangers Home Matches

Sports administrators in Enugu State have commended Radio Nigeria for its live commentaries of Rangers International Football Club matches in Enugu.

Speaking to Radio Nigeria the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mrs. Ngozi Herrieta Ani says the live commentaries at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium have greatly increased spectator’s attendance and the fan base of Rangers International.

Also speaking on the issue, Mr. Steve Orurina a board member of Rangers management said that by the bit by bit account of what was happening in a football event, radio commentary serves as a catalyst for the growth and development of the game.

For the team manager Grime Busters Football Club, Enugu, Mr Ebele Amuoe, radio commentary exposes sporting activities to the populace thereby increasing the revenue base and attracting private sponsorship to the club.

They called on other media houses to emulate Radio Nigeria to boost the interest of the people in attending the Nigeria Professional Football League matches to reduce the overbearing influence of the European League matches.

It can be seen that since Radio Nigeria returned to live commentaries of home matches of Rangers of Enugu, after over 18 years of absence, the effects have been felt as the stadium is now filled to capacity during The Flying Antelopes game in Enugu.

It is our wish that the private sector will cease this opportunity to sponsor our local clubs to reduce unemployment.
