Enugu State ALGON, Commends Ugwuanyi on his Support to Enugu Rangers

enugu-rangers-international The Enugu State chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, (ALGON) has commended Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his commitment and support to Enugu Rangers International Football Club, which ensured the club’s successful outing as the Nigeria Professional Football League champion.

The association also congratulated the players, the management of Rangers and supporters of the club for their spirited efforts, tenacity, steadfastness and display of brotherhood throughout the struggle to bring the trophy to the state as new champions of the Nigeria football League.

In a statement signed by its state Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Nnaji, ALGON expressed delight that the efforts of the governor and the club were finally crowned with victory after 32 years in the “wilderness” without a trophy.

Hon. Nnaji while describing Gov. Ugwuanyi as “a jinx breaker” noted that he displayed an uncommon passion for the club and gave it the tremendous support it needed to win the title.

The ALGON Chairman who regretted the injury sustained by Ifeanyi Egwim of Enugu Rangers at the dying minutes of the match against the El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, however, appreciated the kind gesture of Gov. Ugwuanyi in visiting the injured player at the National Orthopedic Hospital, Enugu, immediately after the match to assess the extent of injury sustained and ensure that he was given the best medical attention to enable him play football again.
He also applauded Gov. Ugwuanyi’s decision to dedicate the trophy to God, saying that it was an indication the governor is a man of faith and a God-fearing leader.
