Andy Murray Wins Italian Open
Britain’s Andy Murray clinched his first Italian Open title with a 6-3, 6-3, victory over Novak Djokovic in Rome.
The title was a perfect birthday present for Murray who turned 29 on Sunday. It was his first win on clay against Djokovic in five attempts.
In the women’s category, Serena Williams beat fellow American Madison Keys 7-6, 6-3 to triumph in Rome for the fourth time since 2002.
With the title Williams became just the fifth woman to win 70 WTA titles, following Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert, Steff Graf and Margaret Court.
She will begin the defence of her French Open title this Sunday in Paris.
