A two day capacity training for officers and men of the Nigeria Police force Zone 9 in Umuahia has commenced with a charge on officers and men of the zone to exhibit high sense of professionalism in the discharge of their duties before, during and after the forthcoming general elections.
Addressing the officers in Umuahia, the Assistant Inspector General of Police zone 9, Mr. Hosea Karma said that the training became imperative based on the important roles the police were expected to play in ensuring a peaceful and violence-free elections in the country.
He urged the participants to take the training seriously, noting that the outcome of the program would be determined by their performances on the field during election period.
In a remark, the convener of the program and former Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Lawrence Alobi, noted that the aim of organizing the workshop was to equip officers and men of the zone with the best way to carry out duties during the election period.
Over three hundred Police men drawn from the four states that make up the zone are attending the training.
