OBIANO INAUGURATES OBA COURT COMPLEX, LAYS FOUNDATION FOR OGBUNIKE AND AGULERI COURTS

Anambra State Government has inaugurated the Oba Court Complex to as part of efforts to improve and expand infrastructure of the state judiciary.

Governor Willie Obiano, while inaugurating the complex, said it was in honour of the state first female Chief Judge, Justice Ijem Onwuamaegbu, who just bowed out of active service on September 3, 2019.

Governor Obiano noted that the location of the court complex would ensure that people at the grassroots had access to Justice.

Chief Obiano added that his administration would acquire digital transcribers for judges to ensure proper and stress-free recording of Court proceedings.

He emphasised that the government would continue to support the State judiciary and used the occasion to announce that retired Justice Ijem would be the Chairman of the Committee reviewing all the laws in the State .

The State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Mrs. Uju Nworgu, said that Justice Onwuamaegbu had done so much within her three months stay in office due to her dedication, with the support of the Governor.

For her part, retired Justice Onwuamaegbu, who expressed appreciation to the Governor for appointing her, said that the building upon completion would accommodate two wings .

Meanwhile the governor also performed the foundation Stone -Laying of Ogbunike and Aguleri courts.
