GEOFFREY_ONYEAMA_1[1]The Federal Government is to intensify efforts towards the recovery of monies looted out of the country.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama made this known when he came for APC Re-registration in his home ward, Eke in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.

It was another home coming for the Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama as he joined the league of top personalities in Enugu State to participate in the on-going APC re-registration in the South East.

Mr. Onyeama, who acknowledged that the economic situation was harsh, said government efforts to recover a lot of stolen funds from Europe, middle East and the USA would help revive the country.

“They are in the UK, there is in the Switzerland. We are making headway in the gulf countries, in the US over $300, 000, 000 .00, probably even more than that. Some people tried to claim and the US court said that they didn’t have right to it. So we are in the process of getting it back. Sometimes there are lots of bureaucracies in a lot of these countries to returning money like that.”

The Minister also said that efforts were on to reposition the image of the country to attract more foreign investors. Mr. Onyeama used the opportunity to re-assure Nigerians that President Mohammed Buhari is not in hospital and would return to the country soon.

“He is in the Nigerian House, Nigeria’s official house in London, so he is not hospitalized… I hope he will return soon.”

On home front, Mr. Onyeama said he would liaise with the Minister of Agriculture for setting up of a Cashew industry in the community, just as he said that Enugu State Government had promised to ensure public water supply to the community. Earlier, APC State Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye said that the on-going APC re-registration had been unimaginably rewarding.

“In the east senatorial district have registerd well over 50,000 people, new members. Former House of Assembly members have joined, former local government council executive chairmen also so joined and House of Reps. Then inside Eke, over 900 people have registered.”

“A few weeks ago, a former Senate President, Onwa Enugu, Senator Ken Nnamani left the umbrella (PDP) and picked the broom (APC) to sweep the country and make it clean again. Same day, another heavy weight, this time Anyanwu (Sun),  former Governor of the old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo dumped the PDP and joined us in APC.”

Dr. Nwoye expressed the hope that with the massive defection of people from other political parties to APC, the party would soon take over the major party in Enugu State.
