MINOR CABINET RESHUFFLE IN EBONYI STATE

EBONYI+STATE+MAPGovernor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has approved a minor reshuffle of his cabinet involving the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Uchenna Orji and the State Commissioner for Empowerment and Job Creation, Chief Ogodoali Nome.

The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Senator Emmanuel Onwe stated this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting at Government House, Abakaliki. Senator Onwe said Mr Orji was moved to the Ministry of Empowerment and Job Creation while Chief Ogodoali had taken over the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Senator Onwe pointed out that the state government also inaugurated two committees on Home Grown School Programme and procurement of herbicides.

“Exco has set up a committee on herbicides which is for procurement of herbicides for Ebonyi State farmers and the committee members include some commissioners and special advisers to the Governor and Donor Agencies”.

Senator Onwe also informed journalists that Dr. Oliver Nwankwo had taken up the position of Chairman, Ebonyi State Health Management. Meanwhile, the new Steering Committee on Primary School Feeding Programme has been charged not to give the pupils much garri, rice and other foods containing carbohydrate but those rich in minerals.

Governor David Umahi gave the directive while inaugurating the ten man committee in Abakaliki.

He stressed the importance of ensuring adequate development of children through good meals.

The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Augustine Nwankwaegu, noted that the Steering Committee replaced the disbanded one. The Governor’s Senior Special Adviser on  Religion and Welfare Matters, and Chairman of the Steering Committee, Rev. Fr. Abraham Nwali, pledged to justify the confidence reposed in them.
