IHEDIOHA WINS PDP GUBER PRIMARY IN IMO STATE

A former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, has clinched the ticket of the People’s Democratic Party for 2019 governorship election in Imo State.

He polled 1,723 (one thousand seven hundred and twenty three) votes to defeat his closest rival, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who scored 1,282 (one thousand two hundred and eighty two) votes to emerge second in the keenly contested primary election.

The returning officer and  Chairman of the electoral committee, Senator Emmanuel Nwaka, declared Chief  Ihedioha winner of the election having scored the highest number of valid votes cast in the exercise.

In his acceptance speech, Chief Ihedioha described the process as credible and called on his opponents to join hands to ensure victory for the party during the general election.

Six aspirants took part in the contest, which held at Kanu Nwankwo Sports Centre in Owerri.
