GOV IKPEAZU SETS UP COMMITTEE FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF SCIENCE AND TECH VARSITY IN ABA
A seven member “Exploratory Committee” for the setting up of a University of Science & Technology in Abia State has been inaugurated.
The committee is to explore viability of establishing the university in Aba, identify sources of funding, leverage commercial & Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) activities in the Enyimba City to set up the university, among other terms of reference.
At the event held at Government House, Umuahia, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu said the university would open a new vista of development, providing critical technology and manpower to drive expected industrial growth in the state and the south east region.
The Governor charged the committee to deliver a 21st century science & technology based university and described the members as a individuals with capacity to deliver.
Chairman of the Committee, Professor Anya O. Anya, while responding on behalf of members pledged that the committee would work in line with its mandate, noting that a contemporary university of science and technology was vital in the Enyimba Economic City project and lauded the governor for the vision.
