ENUGU STATE HAS NOT DONE ENOUGH IN ACCESSING DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS FUND DUE TO THE INABILITY OF HEALTH WORKERS TO WRITE BANKABLE PROPOSAL – DR. HILLARY AGBO

The Executive Secretary, Enugu State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Hillary Agbo, has restated the commitment of the Agency towards repositioning Primary Healthcare in the state.

Dr. Agbo stated this during a capacity building workshop for health officers working in the field.

Dr. Agbo, who expressed regret that Enugu State had not done enough in the process of accessing development partners fund due to the inability of health workers to write bankable proposal, said the workshop was aimed at addressing the challenges for optimal performance.

He expressed optimism that the workshop would enable them to conduct proper analysis of problems in their domains and harmonise them as bankable proposals to make it easy for funds to be disbursed accordingly.

Speaking on the theme of the workshop, “bankable proposal writing and research,” a health expert from the Health Policy Research Group, University of Nigeria Enugu Campus, Professor Obinna Onwujekwe, represented by Dr. Eric Obikeze stated that writing fundable proposals was essential to effective healthcare delivery.

Some of the participants expressed satisfaction with the knowledge they acquired from the training.

The participants were advised to group themselves in local government areas and come up with problem solving proposals and submit them to the office of the Executive Secretary for assessment after which it would be forwarded to “Save One Million Lives Programme Management.”
