AT LAST VICTOR UMEH GOES TO THE SENATE

A former National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Umeh, has won the January 13, 2018 Anambra Central Senatorial rerun election.

The result was declared by the Returning Officer for the Poll, Professor Charles Esimone, the Vice Chancellor, Academics of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

According to Professor Esimone, Chief Umeh polled a total of 64,879votes to defeat 13 other contenders to emerge winner.

People’s Democratic Party, PDP did not participate in the election as an earlier judgment by a court of Appeal barred the party from taking part in the poll on the ground that the party did not conduct valid primaries for its candidates.

Radio Nigeria gathered that the process was largely peaceful but was characterized by voter apathy across the 7 local government areas of Anaocha; Awka North and South; Dunukofia; Njikoka; Idemili North; and Idemili South.
