ABIA LAWMAKER ADVOCATES ACCOUNTABILITY FROM ELECTED OFFICIALS

The member representing Umuahia North Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Mr. Kelechi Onuzuruike has emphasized the need for every elected government official to give account of stewardship to those that elected them to office.

Mr. Onuzurike made the assertion while addressing newsmen after meeting with his constituents in Ohuhu, Umuahia North Local Government Area.

According to the law maker, every elected official is obligated to give account of his stewardship to his people, periodically.

He further maintained that since reaching out to the grassroots was the beauty of democracy, there was the need for people to know the activities and workings of the government through constant interaction with their representatives.

Mr. Onuzurike pointed out that such meetings were also necessary to feel the pulse of the people as to identify the areas that needed more attention and improve on them.

He therefore encouraged other elected officials to engage in programmes that would improve the lots of the people.
