WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION

The Nnawojigeria Association of women journalists Anambra state Chapter has joined the rest of the world in celebrating women as it calls for more involvement of women in governance and other key policy making institutions. The Anambra State Chairperson of NAWOJ, Comrade Stella Igboka who made the call in her message to mark the celebration described this year’s theme, “Planet 50-50 by 2020, step it up for gender equality as timely.
Comrade Igboka stressed the need to give women and girls equal opportunities and access to education, jobs, wages, health and other necessaries saying that women’s contribution to the economic, political, social, and cultural development cannot be over emphasized
She maintained that NAWOJ as the watchdog of the gender society would continue to play its advocacy, sensitization, and campaign on gender parity saying that parity cannot be achieved except women are engaged and made part of nation building
Comrade Igboka re affirmed NAWOJ’s readiness to ensure zero tolerance to any form of gender discrimination and will always resist any attempt to violence and abuse against women and girl child.
