WINNERS OF RADIO SCHOOL PROGRAMME REWARDED IN ENUGU

Radio QuizrThe Enugu State Commissioner for Education, Professor Uche Eze has called on Youths to imbibe the reading culture to achieve success in their daily endeavours.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Deputy Director Schools Department Mrs. Clare Eze made the call during a Radio School Quiz Award ceremony in Enugu.

He expressed appreciation to the students for their performance and assured the teachers that their efforts would not be in vain.

In an address of welcome, the Executive Director, South Saharan Social Development organization Enugu, Mrs. Nkechinyere Igwe, commended the State Ministry of Education and the Post Primary School Board for their support in ensuring that Radio School achieve its objectives.

She advised the students not to relent in reading hard to achieve their dream.

Student from different schools in Enugu State received awards from Radio School Quiz competition in four subjects: English Language, mathematics, Basic Science and Civic education.

The Award recipients were Kosiso Chigbo from Saint Theresa’s College Abor in Udi Local Government Area who came first in Civic education; Ikechukwu Ekoh, Union Secondary School, Awkunanaw came first in Basic Science; Chiamaka Ogbaji from community High School Umuchigbo took first position in English Language while Loveth Odoh from Community Secondary School Okpatu came first in Mathematics.

Others were Vivian Ani, Kosisochukwu Ugbor, Chikanso Onyia, Ukamaka Igwebuike and ThankGod Ezeugwu who came second in different subjects.

In an interview, some students expressed joy for the award.

Radio School Programme is an initiative of South Saharan Social Development Organization with support from MacArthur Foundation aimed at improving adolescent learning outcome by providing curriculum based lessons in English Language, Mathematic, Basic Science and Civic Education through Radio Broadcast for junior secondary school students.
