THERE IS NO DOCUMENT INDICATING ABIA STATE GOVT HAS 5% EQUITY IN GEOMETRIC POWER PLANT— COMMISSIONER

Abia State Government has reiterated commitment towards creating enabling environment for investors and prospective investors for businesses to thrive in the state.

The state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu, made this known while briefing journalists at Government House, Umuahia on the outcome of this week’s Executive Council meeting.

Prince Kanu noted that the State Government was much more committed to creating wealth and deliver the people from poverty.

He announceded that the State Government had issued demolition notice to traders who erected illegal structures at the Umunneochi Trailer Park of the Cattle Market in Umunneochi Local Government Area.

The Information Commissioner stressed that the essence was to ensure that sanity and security wwre maintained in the market.

According to Prince Kanu, the fencing at the Lokpanta Cattle Market is nearing completion and insisted that government would not tolerate any one operating outside the fenced market.

The Commissioner further announced that the Arungwa Trailer Park is almost completed as works had reached 90% and the state government appreciated the excitements that had followed the inauguration of the Geometric Power plant in Aba and rehabilitation of all the roads within short period in office.

Responding to questions by journalists on the issue of the alleged 5% equity attracted by the immediate past administration in the State for Geometric Power Plant, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, maintained that previous administration never handed any document or provided any information indicating it invested five million Dollars in Geometric.

This the Commissioner noted should have offer the state the opportunity to have five percent equity on the power plant.
