TETFUND INAUGURATES THREE PROJECTS IN EBSU

The Federal Government has inaugurated three projects sponsored by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) in Ebonyi State University (EBSU) valued at over one point five billion Naira.

In a message to the event, which took place at the permanent site of the university in Ezzangbo, President Bola Tinubu commended TETFUND for bridging the gap in the infrastructural needs of Nigerian universities.

The three TETFUND Projects were I. C. T. Centre constructed under 2012-2015 merged annual Intervention, Library Complex constructed under 2012-2015 merged annual Intervention and the Faculty of Education building constructed under 2016-2019 merged annual Intervention.

Represented by the Minister of Works, Chief David Umahi, President Tinubu said it was on record that TETFUND had performed exceptionally in the provision of physical infrastructure, staff training, ICT and Research.

He emphasized that his administration would provide necessary support and enabling environment for the agency to improve on its performance.

Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, said the state government was pleased with the quality of projects delivered by TETFUND in EBSU and appealed to the National Universities Commission to review courses offered in the nation’s universities to make them entrepreneurship based.

The Executive Secretary of TETFUND, Mr. Sonny Echono, represented by Mr. Buhari Maikano, had while laying a background for the project, explained that Ebonyi State University (EBSU) had enjoyed allocations up to 10.8 billion Naira for infrastructure related interventions since the university was enlisted.

He advised the university to ensure proper maintenance of the projects to enable them to serve their purposes.

The Vice Chancellor of EBSU, Professor Chigozie Ogbu, expresressed the hope that the projects would accelerate research development in the institution.

He requested that further development efforts be channeled to the construction of hostels to address the accommodation challenges facing the university.
