STEADY CAMPAIGNS TO ENLIGHTEN CONSUMERS ON THEIR RIGHTS ADVOCATED ON WORLD CONSUMER RIGHTS DAY

World consumer Rights Day is observed on March fifteenth every year to raise global awareness about consumer rights and needs.

Celebrating the day is an opportunity to demand that the rights of all consumers be respected and protected.

Speaking on the essence of the celebration, a University Lecturer and Vice President, Consumer Awareness organization, Professor Ikenna Chukwu said that event was initiated to reduce the unfair practices between the consumers and the manufacturers.

Professor Chukwu advocated the need for steady campaigns to mobilize action on important issues and to enlighten consumers on their rights and what to do when violated.

Another respondent, Doctor Ebelel Okiche explained that the essence of the theme, “Making Digital Market Places fairer” was to show that electronic commerce makes marketing easier and better.

Doctor Okiche who enumerated some challenges associated with E-Commerce, advised consumers to insist on getting the best from the manufacturers.

According to Doctor Okiche, a bill has been passed by the Enugu State House of Assembly to protect consumers from dangers associated with electronic marketing.
