SOUTH EAST SOCIO-CULTURAL & RELIGIOUS LEADERS CALL FOR UNITY OF PURPOSE IN THE REGION

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State says the South East Governors are synergizing to achieve regional integration, irrespective of party affiliations.

Governor Otti stated this while receiving in audience a delegation of Joint Body of South East Council of Traditional Rulers and representatives of Igbo Archbishops and Bishops, led by the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe.

He said that issues of general concern such as security remained paramount to the Governors as there could not be any meaningful development in an atmosphere of insecurity.

The Governor, who stated that he had a clear plan of what to do in governance, said one of the plans was to develop Aba, a situation that would benefit the entire the South East region.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, said that the aim of the Joint Body of South East Council of Traditional Rulers and representatives of Igbo Archbishops and Bishops was for peace building and reconciliation in the region.

Igwe Achebe, who said the body was committed to projecting peace, mutual respect, love and wellbeing of Ndi Igbo commended the Governor for his achievements and the manner with which he had managing the scarce resources of the state, describing him as a standard for Igbo leaders.

He called on the South East Governors to come together to bring about integration of South East region and stressed the need for Ndi Igbo to build a nation within a nation for economic prosperity.

Other members of Joint Body that were present at the visit were, Chairman, South East Traditional Rulers Council, Ambassador Igwe Lawrence Agubuzu; Chairman, Center for Values & Leadership cum Founding Faculty – Lagos Business School, Professor Pat Utomi; ArchBishop Ralphael Opoko of Methodist Church Nigeria; Arch Bishop David Onuoha of Anglican Archdiocese of Owerri; Dr. Uju Agomoh and Pauline Iyke-Ogbo.
