RADIO NIGERIA PACE SETTER FM GOES OFF AIR, AS DEADLY FIRE RAVAGES STATION

20160125_110442 20160125_110501 Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has promised to assist the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Pacesetter Fm 103.5 Umuahia in restoring transmission after the Station was gutted by fire on Sunday this week.
The Governor made the pledge when the Management of the Corporation led by the Director-General, Dr. Ladan Salihu visited him in government house, Umuahia.
Correspondent Chinazo Ilechukwu who was on the entourage, reports that the Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr. Ladan Salihu had visited the pacesetter FM Umuahia to ascertain the extent of damage from the fire disaster that occurred in the broadcasting house.
He expressed shock that only transmitter and the General Manager’s office were spared as the studios and other offices were completely razed by fire.
Dr. Salihu shortly after addressing the Staff of the station who appeared devastated proceeded to the Gove20160125_133031rnment House, Umuahia to brief Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on the unfortunate incident.
The Director- General said though the destruction was enormous, he was happy that no life was lost in the incident.
Dr. Salihu gave an assurance that management would take necessary steps to get the station back on air within the next three weeks.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu commended the Director General of FRCN for his exemplary leadership and understanding of crisis management.
He however expressed regrets over the fire disaster and pledged the support of his administration in bringing the Pacesetter FM Umuahia back on track.
The Director General of FRCN was accompanied on the visit by the Zonal Director, Enugu National Station, Mr. Ike Okere, Deputy Director Administration, Mr. Sam Anyanwu, his counterpart in Engineering and Services, Mr. Chris Ugwu, General Manager Heartland FM Owerri, Mr. Basil Uzoma and his counterpart in Umuahia, Mr. Fidelis Onoh.
