PRIMARY ELECTION VIOLENCE CLAIM 3 LIVES IN EBONYI, OTHERS SERIOUSLY WOUNDED

Police in Ebonyi State have launched investigations into the killing of three persons at a venue for a party primary election in Onueke, Ezza South Local Government Area of the State.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the State, Mrs. Loveth Odah stated this while briefing newsmen on violence that erupted at the party primary Election in Abakaliki.

The PPRO explained that the three persons were shot dead while three others sustained serious bullet wounds when suspected political thugs attacked the election venue from a nearby bush.

“Sporadically gunshots were heard on air in the nearby bush, so the policemen deployed to the area quick mobilized and repelled the hoodlums. Upon combing the bush 2 lifeless bodies were found, a man and a woman, which at the end of the day one yet to be identified body was seen around that bush. So we are having three,” she said.

Mrs. Odah pointed out that efforts were in top gear to arrest the hoodlums who also set about three vehicles ablaze.

Those injured were rushed to a hospital for treatment while the remains of those who lost their lives were deposited in mortuary.
