During the inauguration of the state parliamentary TB caucus of the House, Dr Ogbuabor stated that TB had killed more people than any other infectious disease in human history and had continued to be responsible for over one point five million deaths yearly. He appealed for greater sensitization to ensure that all patients regardless of who they were and where they lived had access to quick, accurate diagnosis and high quality treatment.
The speaker of the House, Chief Edward Ubosi had called on his legislators to be in the vanguard of rural campaign against tuberculosis TB to reduce avoidable deaths. He urged the members to obtain details of treatment centres in all LGAs in the state to enable TB patients to access free treatment.
Chief Ubosi called for co-operation between health officials and legislators in sensitizing communities on the effects and symptoms of the disease during town hall meetings.
