OTTI SWEARS IN COMMISSIONERS, READS RIOT ACT

Nineteen new commissioners have been sworn-in in Abia State.

Speaking after the Oath of Office and Allegiance were administered on them by the Solicitor General of the state and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Ms Uzoamaka Ikonne, at the Government House, Umuahia, Governor Alex Otti charged them to bring in hallmark of excellence and commitment to the service of the state.

The Governor urged the newly sworn-in commissioners not to betray the trust reposed in them and never see the privilege of their appointments as an opportunity for self enrichment or advancement of unwholesome interests.

Governor Otti, who stressed that development of critical infrastructure was the fulcrum of the administration, said excuses would not be tolerated as there would be zero tolerance for corruption.

According to the Governor, building a new Abia is the key vision of his administration, stressing that he is committed to having a functional society that posterity would appreciate.

The Governor, who congratulated the Commissioners on their appointments, urged them to work together to rebuild Abia State.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ikechukwu Uwanna, thanked the Governor for the honour to serve and pledged to discharge their duties to the best of their abilities

Mr. Uwanna said they were aware of the enormous responsibilities but expressed their commitment to their duties.

Meanwhile, three of the 19 commissioners were yet to be cleared by the State House of Assembly and they would be sworn-in later.
