OTTI APPOINTS KANU NWANKWO TO SUPERVISE ENYIMBA FC, ORDERS PAYMENT OF SALARY, PENSION

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has announced the appointment of a sporting legend and former Super Eagles star, Mr. Kanu Nwankwo to supervise Enyimba Football Club Aba.

The Commissioner for Information and Culture in the state, Mr. Okey Kanu, stated this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive council meeting at the Government House Umuahia.

The Commissioner noted that Governor Otti said the decision of appointing the Abia born and former professional football player was to strengthen the team and encourage it win more laurels for the state.

On the issue of salary arrears, Governor Otti directed the Accountant General of the state to pay the arrears of April 2023 salary to verified Abia workers this week and June pension for retirees next week.

The Commissioner advised the local government staff and other civil servants who are yet to be verified to do so for their benefits.

He explained that as soon as the verification in both the local government system and civil service was completed, workers in the state would be brought to the same page in salary and pension payments.

The Commissioner also announced that 17 schools from the 17 local government areas of the state would benefit from the first 100 days of the present administration in the state.

Also, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ikechukwu Uwanna, said henceforth the existing 1971 Extant law on building construction in the state woul fully be enforced by the state government to ensure orderliness in the erection of buildings in the state.

According to the Attorney-General, the Governor lamented that most of the houses built without aprovals or fraudulently obtained approvals had posed great challenge to the development of the state.

He warned that people should desist from further obtaining of approval for lands where government had dedicated and mapped out for physical infrastructure or road network amongst others.
