ONE YOUTH, TWO SKILLS PROGRAMME WILL CREATE MORE MILLIONAIRES IN ANAMBRA — COMMISSIONER INSISTS

The Anambra State Government has charged youths taking part in the “One Youth Two Skills” programme of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo led administration to leverage on the opportunity provided by the scheme to become economically self-reliant.

The Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha-Mba, gave the charge during a monitoring and evaluation tour of some centres to ensure quality assurance of the scheme.

The training centres are located in Idemili North and South, Ekwusigo, Ihiala, Njikoka and Dunukofia as well as Nnewi North and South Local Government Areas.

Describing the tour as a critical component of the programme, the Youth Development Commissioner noted that the visit was aimed at ensuring effective policy implementation of the scheme, in fulfillment of the Gov. Soludo’s campaign promises of producing 130,000 business hubs and 1,000 youth millionaires annually.

Mr. Agha-Mba, while describing Governor Soludo as youth-friendly and futuristic, also pointed out that the scheme was initiated to end youth restiveness and through job creation opportunities.

The Commissioner maintained that Governor Soludo was desirous of using the empowerment Scheme as a tool for raising smart entrepreneurs who would make Anambra State the skills hub of Africa in no distant time.

The Commissioner thanked the facilitators, Volunteers, Master Trainers and Tutors for the organized manner in which they were handling the training classes, assuring them of all necessary logistics and other support.

For his part, the Transition Committee Chairman of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Mr. Chimezie Obi, lauded Governor Soludo for instituting the empowerment programme, expressing the confidence that the scheme would create jobs and end youth restiveness in the area .

Participants and Master Trainers, who spoke with Radio Nigeria, including Chidimma Oramesi from Oraifite, Chioma Ajekwu from Enugwu-ukwu, Chimuobi Okeke from Nkpor, Ifeanyi Okonkwo from Nnobi and Ngozika Akpadoro, expressed profound gratitude to the Soludo led administration for the opportunity given to them to becoming economically independent.

They promised to make good use of the opportunity.

Correspondent Ben Ilechukwu reports that the participants were undergoing training and tutorship on various entrepreneur skills ranging from cosmetology, confectioneries, ICT, painting and paint production among others.
