The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Abia State Command has arrested two suspected oil vandals.

Parading the suspects in Umuahia, the Commandant of the Corps in the State, Mr. Nnamdi Nwanukwu, said the suspects were arrested on Ohambele-Azumiri axis by men of the anti-vandal squad of the Corps while trying to convey about five thousand liters of petroleum products.

He noted that the suspects, one Kate Idjesa from Cross River State and Yahuza Abbas from Plateau State, allegedly concealed some quantities of petroleum products in nylon bags and loaded it in a truck.

The Abia State NSCDC Commandant stated that when the suspects were accosted by his men it was discovered that the products had no receipt of purchase or weigh bill and that the suspects had no license to deal on the products.

Mr. Nwanukwu warned those engaging in the act to desist from it because the Command was ready to deal with anyone caught.

In an interview, one of the suspects, Kate Idjesa, said she bought the products from a friend and was conveying it to Abia State for sale when she was arrested.

Items allegedly recovered from the suspects were some quantities of oil suspected to be petroleum products concealed in nylon bags and a truck.
