NSCDC ARRESTS MAN CARRYING 33,000 LITERS OF CRUDE OIL IN ABIA

A middle aged man, Ikechukwu Amuche, is now in the net of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Abia State for allegedly dealing in petroleum product suspected to be crude oil.

Parading the suspect in Umuahia, the Commandant NSCDC in Abia State, Mr. Nnamdi Nwannukwu, said the suspect was arrested while trying to convey about thirty-three thousand litres of substance suspected to be crude oil loaded in a truck without a registration number.

He noted that the suspect was arrested along Ohiya express way near Umuahia.

Mr. Nwannukwu explained that the product had no way bill while the truck used in conveying the product had no haulage permit.

The NSCDC Commandant warned those who indulged in such acts to desist from it, nothing that the command was ever ready to deal decisively with anyone caught in the illegal business.

In an interview, the suspect, Ikechukwu Amuche, who claimed to be a truck driver, said he was contacted by a friend to assist him in conveying a petroleum product from Portharcourt to Umuahia when the officials of NSCDC arrested him.
