KIDNAPPED FETHA CMD REGAINS HIS FREEDOM

The Chief Medical Director, Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, FETHA,Ebonyi State, Dr. Emeka Onwe ogar who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen at Ajokuta axis of Kogi-Lokoja Highway few days ago has been freed.

Dr. Onwe ogar was freed along with two other victims, the Director of Administration in the Hospital, Chief Christopher Ogbu and the Director of Finance, Mr. Sunday Ugama.
Though details of how they were freed were yet to be made public, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr. Emmanuel Uzor explained that they regained their freedom in the early hours of yesterday.

The Chairman, Nigeria Medical Association in the State, Dr. Austin Ikwudinma also confirmed the development and commended the state government and security agencies for their quick intervention.

Dr. Ikwudinma had last weekend led members of the Nigeria Medical Association in the State to Ebonyi State Government House, Abakaliki on a peaceful protest where they demanded the immediate release of the CMD.
Governor David Umahi who addressed the doctors did assure them that Dr. Onwe Ogar would be released and urged them to return to their duty posts.
As at the time of filing this story, it was not clear what became of CMD’s driver who was allegedly shot by the abductors.
