Mrs. Ugwuanyi – Donates Gift Items to Triplets

????????????????????????????????????

The wife of Enugu State governor, Mrs. Monica Ugwuanyi has reiterated her commitment to programmes that would speed up rapid development at the grassroots for the rural dwellers to continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy.

Mrs. Ugwuanyi, who spoke at Lejja in Nsukka Local Government Area of the state, during the foundation laying ceremony of a Skill Acquisition Center and Free Medical Mission of her pet project U-TOLF Foundation, noted that her desire to focus attention on grassroots development was because a greater number of women and youths in the rural areas were languishing in abject poverty.
This came as the Governor’s wife donated cash and other gift items to the families of Mr. and Mrs. Dickson Nnamene and Mr. and Mrs. Benedith Ocheme, (both from Enugu State), whose wives gave birth to triplets for the upkeep of the babies and their mothers.
While advising the families to utilize the gifts accordingly, Mrs. Ugwuanyi urged them to adopt exclusive breast feeding approach in the upbringing of the new babies, saying that children are gifts from God.
On the pet project, Mrs. Ugwuanyi revealed her plans to extend the programme to all the communities in the state, to be able to impact more positively on the lives of the rural dwellers, in line with the policy thrust of the present administration.
She also used the occasion to advise women of the area to make proper use of their time during this year’s August meeting so as to be able to set and achieve tangible development goals for their communities.
Earlier in her speech, the Permanent Secretary of Post Primary Schools Management Board, Mrs. Favour Ugwuanyi described Mrs. Ugwuanyi as a mother who cares for the welfare of her children, noting that she (governor’s wife) had demonstrated her love and benevolence through the pet project and other numerous women empowerment programmes she embarked upon.
The Permanent Secretary urged the beneficiaries of U-TOLF empowerment programmes to make proper use of the items made available to them so that they would become useful members of society.
In his remark during the donation of gift items to the triplets, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sam Ngwu emphasized on the need for exclusive breastfeeding, noting that from health perspective, there are no credible alternatives to feeding babies with natural food nutrients especially breast milk.
Our On-line correspondent, Chukwuma Ezeogu, reports that Mr. Dickson Nnamene thanked the governor of Enugu State and his wife for the kind gesture on behalf of the beneficiaries , and prayed for God’s guidance and protection for them through their tenure in office.
