INTERNATIONAL DAY OF LIVING IN PEACE: ANGLICAN PRIEST LAMENTS INJUSTICE IN NIGERIA

An Anglican priest, the Reverend Benson Udezo, has called for equitable distribution of the nation’s resources and tolerance  among the the generality  of Nigerians to achieve sustainable peace and growth in the country.

The Reverend Udezo spoke to Radio Nigeria in Awka on the significance of living together in peace as the world marks International Day of Living Together in Peace, which is celebrated May 16 of every year.

The Anglican priest was of the opinion that the country was in a chaotic situation due to the way things were conducted,  condemning selfishness as the bane of the country.

The Reverend Udezo urged those in leadership positions not to set bad precedence to the coming generations but to aim at pursuing peace and unity of the nation always. While observing that the country is a reflection of the family, he emphasized the need for parents to inculcate in their children good morals that would help them become responsible adults.

The Reverend Udezo, however, expressed worry over the hardship many families were being subjected to due to the Coronavirus pandemic  and called on every member of the society to use the period to humble themselves before God as mandated by Christ so that the peace of God will dwell in their homes.
