INEC OFFICE BURNT IN EBONYI
REPORTER: AMECHI ODO
Unknown arsonists have set ablaze the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
An Eyewitness, who pleaded anornimity, told Radio Nigeria that the incident occured in the morning hours, emphasising that the office was completely razed.
Efforts to ascertain whether the inferno affected the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) due for distribution in the area and other vital documents were not successful as the Head INEC Voter Education and Publicity in Ebonyi State, Dr. Christian Elekwa, claimed not to be aware of the incident.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the State, Mr. Chris Anyanwu, confirmed the fire incident but said he did not have details as at the time of filing this report.
