INEC IN ABIA PROMISES CREDIBLE ELECTION IN 2019

The Resident Electoral Commissioner INEC Abia State, Dr. Joseph Iloh has reassured residents of the state of the commission’s readiness to conduct a free, fair and credible election in 2019.

Dr. Iloh gave the assurance during a two day capacity workshop organized for the management staff and Electoral officials in Umuahia.

He explained that the workshop was designed to enhanced quality service delivery for INEC Staff during election.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner noted that the commission would ensure that a level playing ground would be provided for all political parties that could be contesting for any position in the 2019 general election in the state.

Dr. Iloh pointed out that the workshop would also assist them to analyze issues and challenges that were confronting the commission towards achieving a successful and credible election come 2019.

In remark the visiting Resident Electoral Commissioner, INEC Anambra state, Dr. Nawchukwu Orji, spoke on the challenges that confronted the 2017 gubernatorial election in Anambra state and how it was tackled by the commission that led to the success of the poll.

He however identified transparency, integrity, credibility, dedication and Excellency as some of the factors that if put into consideration would assist in the conduct of a free and credible election in the Abia state.

Some of the INEC staff that spoke with Radio Nigeria described the workshop as very apt and educative stating that they have acquired some knowledge of electoral issues.

Over 200 staff of the commission attended the two day workshop.
