IMO STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY SHUTDOWN OVER COVID-19

A member of the State House of Assembly has tested positive to corona virus. The Chairman of the State Task Force on Covid-19 Professor Maurice Iwu disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Owerri.

He said following the development the assembly has been shut for two weeks while samples of other twenty six legislators and their aides have been taken for testing. Professor Iwu announced the death of a woman who died of the virus shortly after being delivered of a set of twins at a hospital in Owerri.

Professor Iwu said a total of seven hundred and sixty samples have so far been tested in the state with one hundred and thirty five coming out positive. He noted that forty three persons have been successfully managed and discharged and gave an assurance that the state would continue to follow the laid down protocols in tackling the pandemic.

Our Correspondent reports that Imo has recorded two deaths arising from covid-19.
