IMO STATE GOVERNMENT RELAXES SHUT DOWN ORDER TEMPORARILY

Imo State Government says it will relax the total shut down order observed in the state on Friday March 10, 2020 to enable residents to shop for food ahead of the Easter celebration.

A statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Declan Emelumba, however pointed out that markets would only be opened for food item sellers between six o’clock in the morning and six in the evening.

It stated that food vending supermarkets would equally be allowed to operate within the said hours to enable citizens to make purchases.

The statement warned boutiques, jewelry shops and other non food markets and shops to remain shut as anybody caught flouting the order would be prosecuted.

The statement explained that the total lock down of the state would resume with full force from Saturday April 11, 2020 and advised the people to observe Easter Sunday services online or through electronic media.

The government appealed to residents to take the lock down order with utmost seriousness as every measure taken was aimed at preventing the COVID-19 disease from entering the state.
