Governor Ugwuanyi urges Christians on prayer to tame criminality

Mother's Day Cake Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, yesterday urged Christians to embark on fervent prayers to arrest upsurge in kidnapping and other forms of criminality in the country.

He spoke at a church service to mark 2016 mothering Sunday at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Federal Housing, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu.

He commended Monsignor Prof. Obiora Ike, a catholic priest and chairman of the Enugu State Economic Advisory Committee who also went for his 60th birthday thanksgiving service for his selfless service to the state and humanity in general.

The governor explained that the prayers of the church had become necessary in view of the increasing incidence of crimes and other anti-social activities in different parts of the country.

He frowned at the menace of the herdsmen, cases of rape, armed robbery, kidnapping, pipeline vandalism among others.

The governor equally regretted that economic hardship is bogging down governance and that the said cases of criminality have continued to worsen the situation.
