GOV. UZODINMA SIGNS WASTE AND LAND BILLS INTO LAW

Imo State Governor, Chief Hope Uzodinma, has signed two bills into law at the Government Owerri.

The bills are “Imo State Waste Management Bill” and the “Consolidation of the Property and Land Base Charges Bill.”

This the Governor explained that the “Consolidation of the Property and Land Base Charges Law” would make provision for the Levying and Collection of Land Use Charges in Imo State and Other Related Matters.

He said the law would bring sanity into the rampant allocation and acquisition of lands as well as identify the legitimate owners of the lands in the state, who might have been deprived of their ownership.

Governor Uzodinma also commented on the “Imo State Waste Management Law.”

The Governor expressed worry at the rate people dump refuse in Owerri metropolis. He noted that with the law in place, there would be regulatory instrument that would guide the collection, the disposal and management of waste into wealth.

Speaker Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Chiji Collins, and other principal officers of the house and the members of the State Executive Council witnessed were present at the signing of the bill into law.
