FG TO REVIEW SECURITY IN CHURCHES FOLLOWING OZUBULU CHURCH KILLING AS WORSHIPPERS ARE STILL AFRAID TO GO TO CHURCH
One week after the shooting at St. Philips Catholic Church, Ozubulu that left 13 people dead and some wounded, the mass, on Sunday (13th August) morning witnessed low turnout of parishioners when it began by 9 am.
The church decided to hold a solidarity mass in which government functionaries attended en mass.
The church progressively started filling up thus boosting the confidence of the parish priest, the Reverend Father Jude Onwuaso who was alone at the church before 9 am.
The homily was delivered by a visiting priest, Monsignor Patrick Ezebata who centered on being strong in the Lord.
The priest urged parishioners to be strong and never be afraid for God was on their side.
Some Parishioners in an interview said that they were still afraid after the devastating incident but pointed outthat the celebration of the solidarity mass had given them courage.
