FEDERAL GORVERNMENT APPEALED TO ASSIST IN OVERCOMING THE CHALLENGES CAUSED BY FLOOD IN ANAMBRA
Rampaging floods have displaced thousands of families from their homes in some riverine communities of Anambra State.
Among the areas worst hit by the disaster were Ogbaru, Anambra East and Anambra West Local Governments.
As a result, Governor Willie Obiano who undertook a tour of the affected areas had appealed to the Federal Government, groups and agencies to assist the state in overcoming the challenges posed by the flood.
The Governor also urged residents of the flood prone areas to relocate to avoid losing their lives.
Governor Obiano also visited the holding centre at the Ogbaru Local Government Secretariat, Atani where he promised to provide food, water and drugs.
The Naval Outpost at Odekpe, Atani Police Station, churches, schools, markets, homes and public buildings had been flooded
At the Central School Odekpe where numerous displaced persons were accommodated Governor Obiano assured that his administration would provide them with electricity and other conveniences.
