The Arch Bishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province, the Most Reverend Emmanuel Chukwuma has advocated establishment of family court in Enugu State.

Arch Bishop Chukwuma who is also the Chairman of Enugu State Adoption Committee made the call when he led members of the committee on a visit to the Enugu State Chief Judge.

He said the court if established, would take care of divorce and juvenile cases for quick dispensation of justice.

One of the Committee members, Professor Peter Ebigbo suggested that proper family court should be established in the three Senatorial districts in Enugu State.

Also the Commissioner for Gender Affairs, Princess Peace Nnaji commended the Governor of Enugu State for setting up the committee with people of high integrity who are committed to protecting the rights and interest of children in the State.

Responding, the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Ngozi Emehelu said the use of family court in administration of justice would assist in recognition of juvenile and child rights act in the State.

Justice Emehelu further appealed to UNICEF and other agencies to assist the State Judiciary in the area of capacity building to actualize its aim.

The Enugu State Judiciary has earlier set up a multi door court house and fask track court to enhance quick resolution of cases.
