COMMISSIONER OF POLICE ENUGU STATE COMMAND NWODIBO EKECHUKWU SUSPECTED RITUALISTThe Enugu State Police Command says it has dislodged a syndicate that specializes in impersonating and withdrawing money from people’s bank accounts.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nwodibo Ekechukwu made this known in his maiden media briefing in Enugu during which he paraded the suspected leader of the group, one Felix Thomson Onyebuchi, alongside some other suspected criminals.

Correspondent Chukwubuike Madu reports that the arrest of the suspected leader of the syndicate, 56 year old Felix Thomas Onyebuchi from Osaa Ukwu community in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State followed a report by a bank customer that 11 million naira was illegally withdrawn from his account in an Enugu State branch of the bank.

The Suspect was later arrested by the Police as he was about to take away 50 million naira from the same account, whose owner resides in Portharcourt, Rivers State.

The Commissioner of Police Enugu State Command, Mr. Nwodibo Ekechukwu gave journalists insight into the operations of the syndicate saying that “they go to communication service providers now, apply for welcome back of registered numbers. If and when they are obliged they excommunicate immediately the true owners of such numbers so that even when account officers of the account holders in banks are calling them, they become unreachable and they will so be until they have perfected their fraud.”
