ENUGU RESIDENTS CALL FOR GOVERNMENTS’ INTERVENTION IN THEI PLIGHT

Residents of Enugu have called on the government to find ways of improving the economy of the country to alleviate the sufferings of the people.

They made the call while speaking with Radio Nigeria on how they plan to celebrate the Christmas.

Christmas season no doubt is a time of celebration. During the period, people spend a lot of money on food items, clothes, beverages, gift items among others.

 

Many people equally use the opportunity provided by the public holidays to attend to some personal and social needs.

With the present economic situation in the country, Radio Nigeria went to town to find out how people intend to celebrate this year’s Christmas.

A civil servant, Mr. Ayo Aikpokhio said he would use the period to spend quality time with his family which stays in Abuja.

Another Civil Servant, Mrs. Juliet Madu expressed worry that in the midst of all the high cost of products and services, salaries of civil servants had remains static.

 

For a nurse, Mrs. Uju Ugwu, who will be on essential duty within the period, it gives her joy to come for the sick and give them hope just as the expected Messiah.

Children were not left out, as some of them said the would visit recreational centres and their villages.

Meanwhile, the Traditional Ruler of Ezineri Mgbidi, Igwe Stephen Obidinanwa has advised people to shun all social vices during the celebrations.

The traditional ruler who also complained of poor economic situation in the country said whoever lived to witness the occasion should thank God and reflect on the essence of the season.
